This week our research for our notecards was the topic of "procedures." I researched 5 different procedures that are used in orthodontics. They were palate expander, teeth retainer, extractions, cephalometric x-rays, and impressions. I was able to research in-depth about these procedures and learn about the factors that lead up to these certain procedures.
This week I also had to find a mentor and come up with interview questions for this. I have not quite got a "yes" from my mentor because it has been a crazy week but when I get my mentor I will ask them these questions.
What inspired you to become an orthodontist?
What are the most important skills for an orthodontist to develop?
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in orthodontics?
How has the field of orthodontics changed since you started your career?
What are some common misconceptions people have about orthodontics?
Hopefully after this interview with my future mentor, I will receive a better understanding of orthodontics and be able to receive insight to help me better my career.

Our lab this week was learning about hemispatial neglect. Hemispatial Neglect is the reduced awareness of a behavioral change on your left side of your body. Most people that suffer from this condition have symptoms like bumping into door frames, not eating food on the left side of their plate, and when reading having to move the book to see what the words on the left side say. This condition is caused by a stroke or an injury to the right cerebral hemisphere.
