Weekly Blog!

For our discussion post this week we had to research a notable theorist from our field of interest. I chose Edward Hartley Angle. Angle was an American dentist who is considered the father of modern orthodontics. He created this specialty of dentistry through the inconsistency of the teeth, jaws, and face/bone structure, and created the first educational program to train certain individuals in orthodontics. Angle also developed the first prefabricated orthodontic appliance system. I was able to get a better understanding of where orthodontics came from and how it has grew over the years.

I was also able to find my mentor to help me through my studies this year. Dr. Brian Oliver agreed to be interviewed and to become my mentor. I am so grateful to have his help through this year and hopefully it will come in handy towards the end of my senior year.

The last thing we did was a skills lab to get a better understanding of a hand laceration and how to bandage it. We learned how to wrap a hand if there was a vertical cut. This is a great skill to have in general so maybe I can be the one to help if someone were to cut there hand.
