(Interventions)

This week in Interventions, we covered several activities, including a Surgical Scrub, a Field of Interest Slideshow, and an Apple Anatomy Skills Lab. During the Surgical Scrub, we learned the proper technique for a surgical scrub, which will come into hand for our upcoming job shadows. This helps reduce the risk of infections and contributes to patient safety and recovery. It is a very tedious process but was very fascinating to learn each step.
The next project we did this week was the Field of Interest Slideshow, which will be presented in front of my classmates to show them what has led me to choose the field I chose. I encountered a little difficulty when adding a voice recording to my slides but I finally figured it out, other than that my slideshow went pretty smoothly.
The last activity of the week was the Apple Anatomy Lab. This was very difficult, especially if you were not precise with your decisions and cuts. In this lab, we used proper anatomical terminology to determine body planes, surfaces, and body directions while following step-by-step instructions to cut our apple. It was hard but also very enjoyable. Some of my other classmates were stressed, while others approached it by taking it step by step. During the lab, my knife snapped off, and the blade got stuck inside of my apple. The main lesson I have learned from this lab was the importance of being patient, considering that once you make a cut, you can not undo it.
