(Interventions)

This week we participated in a skills lab where we learned about H.E.E.N.T. Which is an assessment where you assess the patient from head, eyes, ears, nose, and teeth. It is a very tedious process where you go through and check each thing in multiple different ways. Starting off with the head lift up the hair and part it, while doing this you feel the texture of the hair which can be indications of vitamin deficiencies. Next is the eyes that start with inspections for the eyebrows and eyelashes, checking for hair loss while also making sure there is no rashes. Also, checking the red parts in the eyes by pulling down and looking and pulling down and lifting up on the eyelids. Ears will be checked behind the ear and how it feels. Tugging on the ear to make sure it isn't tender. To check sinus you will press right over the brows or on the cheek and tap the forehead and under eye to check sinus infections. Tilt the head back and put your hand on the forehead and pull the nose back to check the sinus. In the mouth examination you are checking for lesions, cracks and color. Checking for dehydration. The last thing is the examination of the neck. Tip the head back and see the thyroid. Then lean the head forward to check the tenderness throughout the thyroid. Examine the carotid arteries and hold your breath and they will hold theirs too. Start from the back and feel in a circular motion to check the lymph nodes.

This week we also did a discussion post about patient rights. There are seven rights when it comes to their rights these include right person, right medication, right dose, right time, right route, right reason, and right documentation. I went into a deep description of this and explained the ways that these work in the real situations. When it comes to the rights of the patient they have certain standards to uphold in order to recieve there rights from the doctor/healthcare worker.
