What do Physical Therapists do?
They are movement specialists which treat disorders of movement caused by injury or disease. Over all they restore, maintain and promote overall fitness and health. Physical Therapy also is a more "Hands On" profession.
What are the Variety of Practice Settings?
Hospitals, Rehabilitation Facilities, Schools, Outpatient Facilities, Sports Centers, Universities, and Nursing Homes
Variety of Patient Population:
Musculoskeletal Conditions
Post op, pain, sports, etc
Neuromuscular Conditions:
Stroke, spinal cord injury,, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, etc.
Cardiopulmonary Conditions:
Post- myocardial infarction, deconditioning, post- Covid, etc.
Integumentary COnditions:
Wound care, burn, etc.
In general physical therapists enjoy people, good with their hands, are motivated, good communicators, and problem-solvers.
Neurologic Diagnosis which could include of stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, parkinson's disease and balance impairments.
Role of the PT: Evaluation, Diagnose, Plan of Care, Do your treatments (Interventions), Re-access or the outcomes, Examination
